Today was one of those days that just make your heart shine. Me and Jadie, a good friend here in L.A went to Melrose place together to get our hair cut and shaped at John Frieda´s. That´s right. The John Frieda. Neither of us had been to a hair dresser in over half a year, which for anyone who knows anything about hair means CRISIS. Big time. How we got to go to John Frieda will have to remain a secret, but both of us are non-paid volunteer workers (NOT complaining! I wouldn´t wanna live any other way!), so treats like this is just a huge blessing. And that is what it was for both of us, a gift :) Jadie is a mom, and in my opinion Super woman. She kicks butt in the gym and is way stronger and more fit than I am. It keeps me challenged though! She cooks for her family, drives her 4 kids to auditions all the time, helps them with home work (at one point she was even home schooling them), AND serves the campus we´re on. She also mentors me (and a dozen others) and gives tons of good advice when I make poor choices. Cause I do that. Make poor choices. She truly deserved to be pampered today :)
May I also mention that yesterday I was looking at one of my favorite fashion bloggers blog http://fotballfrue.no/, and fell in love with a green jacket she had on. I told God: "That is exactly what I would like for colder days when I just wanna look European and wintery!" And sure enough, today my friend, Claire Lise walked up to me and asked if I wanted a her jacket. She was giving away a few items, just because, and her jacket looks like the one I wanted. (Just that this one has a better shape for my figure, so even better.) This is just a few of the stories of all the amazing ways God my provider is blessing me. Please don´t say "He isn´t blessing me like that". Cause the question is: Are you letting him? May I suggest to you, that we in this western society knows soo well how to take care of our selves, that we sometimes forget that the only one who can add a single hour to our lives is... Our creator. I am not saying having great educations and good jobs is bad: as a matter of fact, I applaud hard workers and those who are educated. Our doctors! Our scientists! The teacher and dentist, and you name it...we NEED them! I am only talking about the attitude of the heart; in your needs, do you allow praise to God who gave you the body and abilities to work hard and gave you your brains? And above all, do you dare to be generous and give of your overflow to those who can´t take care of themselves, and let go of your own control for a bit? Cause when we give away a liiiitle bit too much, guess who´s gonna be blessed! You!
I am no scientist. I am not a theologian. But I have tried a few different ways of living. I believe the calling on my life is to live in faith, and I can´t get enough of it. Can´t get enough of seeing God come through for me again and again. I love being challenged to give when I don´t have "enough" myself. YES, there are boundaries. Saving up money is good. Making sure you don´t get in debt by giving what you don´t have is good. BUT to be generous with what you have is never gonna leave you lacking.
Cause here´s the thing. As Jadie is my friend kicks my butt, is a good example and mentors me as well as loves to hang out and have "pamper time", so does God want relationship with us. I believe with all my heart he created us for relationship with him. Sometimes he shows us how through other people. He wants our time, our attention, he wants to provide for us and teach us how we can provide for and bless others. He wants to lead us, kick our butt when we need it, and ultimately, prepare us for a life with him in eternity. An eternity where we can do nothing but walk in faith and blessings. So let´s start now!
Jesus, you´re my savior! I try to let you be Lord of my life. I hope to always allow you to be my provider. You always want to be my friend, though I don´t always treat you as one. I love you!
(And now I got to help my jacket-giving-girl with her hair and make up before her party tonight. The blessing cycle!)
